Newclose Cricket Ground had its first large scale social event since the start of the pandemic on 3rd September with a Race Night organised by island charity Bumblesuma, raising money for acts of kindness on the Isle of Wight. The night raised £632, split three ways for Newclose, Bumblesuma and Mind, which Claire Dinsdale will be running for in the 2021 London Marathon.
The entertainment evening was a huge success with over 70 guests enjoying the fantastic atmosphere, the company of others, the bar and food facilities along with video presentations of 7 horse races on a large screen. Prettyr, who provide promotion, branding / marketing material and website maintenance for Bumblesuma, also filmed and documented the event, so that the charity can bring to life its efforts and impact on the island's community. With previous Acts Of Kindness receivers explaining their story and how Bumblesuma has helped them improve their life. By running a small betting tote on each race, participants were able to own a horse or just bet to share in the winnings. The results raised substantial funds to support 2 charities and Bumblesuma Acts Of Kindness. As a result of all the fun a total of £632 was raised. Thank you all for your superb support – it is really appreciated and helps others, £212 was gifted to Claire Dinsdale who is running in the London marathon and raising funds for MIND. £210 was gifted to Newclose Cricket Club ( a charity helping youngsters to play cricket and embrace the power of teamwork) and £210 was gifted to Bumblesuma Island.
